Pick up almost any face cream in a shop and turn it over. The ingredients list is often 30 or 40 items long, and most of them are hard to pronounce.
When I started making creams in my own kitchen, I wanted the opposite: a short list of ingredients you'd recognise, each one there for a reason.
What goes in
- Raw shea butter for richness and comfort.
- Coconut and sweet almond oils to soften the skin.
- A hero ingredient for each cream: rose hip oil in the Mature Skin Cream, lavender in the Relaxing Night Cream, oats and charcoal in the Repair & Renew, green tea in the Healing Miracle.
- Zinc oxide, a gentle mineral that has been used on skin for generations.
What stays out
- Nothing is diluted, so a little goes a long way.
- No artificial fragrance. What you smell comes from the plant oils.
- No synthetic colours. The grey of the Repair & Renew is the charcoal, and the green of the Healing Miracle is the green tea.
- No parabens.
Why it matters
A short list means it's easier to know what you're putting on your skin. And because the creams are concentrated, one 45ml pot gives around 35 to 40 uses.
Every jar is still made by hand here in the UK, in small batches. If you'd like to see the full ingredients for any cream, you'll find them on each product page.
With love,
Maxine
